Where we come from.Find out about our history, dating back from 1995. We started as a small accounting and IT consulting firm for the professional services industry and SME's. Over the years, we transformed into catalyst for strategy, change and innovation for larger businesses. Today, we service clients at the forefront of technology and product development. It has been a wonderful ride so far, but it's far from over still.

Only by putting our own needs last can we truly serve a purpose.
- Dennis van der Spoel
About us is mostly about You
We foster a radical and pioneering spirit. We enjoy devising innovative and creative solutions to problems and we are always on the lookout for fresh perspectives or new ideas. We are bold and experimental. We enjoy activities that may be seen as being left field or slightly eccentric. At the same time, we are adept at communicating and managing our relationships with others. In fact, we like to make a virtue of engaging even the most difficult or awkward clientele.
We like to emphasize our innovation and problem-solving capabilities. Although we may come across as confident and maybe a little cocky, taking great delight in taking apart current thinking and challenging widely held views, we love solving challenging or complex problems for you like no-one else can. We are drawn to activities that enable starting from a clean slate rather than relying on existing or tried and trusted methods. Innovation and fresh thinking are very important to us. It is the only way we can ensure that your organization may continue to serve its purpose in the volatile conditions that lie ahead.
We are highly inventive in nature and will often prioritize ideas and opportunities based on long-term potential and enthusiasm rather than focusing on activities with the greatest commercial upside in the short-term. This leads to a focus on projects that might be considered long shots or opportunities with extreme risk/reward profiles. Some may find that these decisions lack mass market appeal or are considered too radical or challenging. But when successful outcomes are achieved, the results are spectacular.
Furthermore, we value logic and rationality. It is unlikely that we get emotionally attached to any particular solution. Instead we are open to ideas and opportunities that exploit new techniques and technologies. When approaching work, we will always look to change things and experiment. We dislike getting bogged down by repetition or routine. We do not enjoy situations where there is no room for flexibility or where there is a strictly defined, fixed path to follow.
We are primarily informal in outlook. We will not naturally embrace hierarchies or other rigid structures. Instead, we seek to emphasize spontaneity and experimentation. Likewise, we will not seek to dominate or impose our own values and beliefs directly onto others.

Established in 1995
In 1995 Dennis van der Spoel, our founder, started a small company called "P.C.-Service & Bedrijfsadviesbureau D.E. van der Spoel". With a focus on accounting and IT services for the local SMEs in his hometown, he started selling computers and accounting software, but ended up servicing those computers and implementing the accounting software.
In 1997 he changed the name of the company to "ADES Managementstrategieën" and changed the focus of the business to strategy consulting for mid-sized to larger companies.
After a few successful years the company barely survived the aftermath of the 2001 Internet Bubble burst. A period of slow revival began, until in 2005 a Management Buy-out by one of the new partners took place. Our founder exited our company and took a different path, working with various agencies on change and innovation projects for a wide array of clients. The lean-agile mindset was adopted.
After the passing of the new owner in 2006, our company was sold to, and merged with, another company. In 2008, however, bankruptcy was declared on the merged company.
In 2011 our founder (re)founds ADES Management Consulting, drawing back in many stakeholders of the original company and giving rise to international ambitions. The focus has shifted to improving the performance of unique assignments such as projects and programs by taking an agile approach.
In 2013 the activities of ADES Management Consulting merged into Prodesto, a joint venture between Dennis van der Spoel and Ton van Schie, with a focus on organizational change and personal transition.
Early 2017 ADES Management Consulting is carved out of Prodesto to follow an independent course. To honor its founder, the company changed its name to "Dennis van der Spoel BV", with separate business units for Training, Consulting, and Transitioning.
